Google Pixel Buds A Series vs Nothing Ear 1 Comparison

The Launch of Nothing Ear 1 and Google Pixel Buds A Series has created a fuzz in the market, Let’s have a Quick Comparision between Google Pixel Buds A Series vs Nothing Ear 1, what should you buy and why?

Currently, Nothing Ear 1 is considered to be on to the best TWS earbuds under a budget with dynamic dual drivers and deeps and punchy bass, Let’s see can Nothing Ear 1 beat Google Pixel Buds A Series in some or other way, let’s see the comparison between Google Pixel Buds A-Series and Nothing Ear 1.

Google Pixel Buds A Series

There is a whole whack of competition in the wireless earbud space right now and Google is adding to the pile with these Google Pixel Buds A Series.

let me tell you something if you are a manufacturer of wireless earbuds or you’re a company trying to make wireless earbuds and you’re releasing a new product here in 2021.

Google Pixel Buds A Series vs Nothing Ear 1 Comparison

In order for a company like Google to stand out amongst all these other brands, they really needed to make something great and you know what I think they did I think they made a very compelling set of wireless earbuds that I could recommend to almost anyone.

These are so compelling is that they’re very affordable google is selling them for around 99 us dollars which undercuts a whole lot of the popular wireless earbuds that I’ve tested to date.

Google Pixel Buds A Series vs Nothing Ear 1 Comparison

Google Pixel Buds A Series is much cheaper than the original pixel buds and they still have most of the same features if you’re familiar with the original pixel buds that were released back in 2020 the series doesn’t look much different.

On the outside instead of the black accenting they’ve gone with a light gray for the white version of the Google Pixel Buds A-Series and dark green for the other color I prefer the look of the Google Pixel Buds A Series actually they’ve got that clean google vibe.

Google Pixel Buds A Series vs Nothing Ear 1

and although they still look like you’ve stuck two mentos in your ears it’s still a better look than most other earbuds on the market.

The case is designed well too it’s small and light and even though it’s on the plasticky side it feels durable enough for long-term use.

the cool little twist with this case is that it’s actually magnetic and when it’s hanging on my fridge I can’t help but see eve from wall-e which is actually one of my favorite movies.

Google Pixel Buds A Series vs Nothing Ear 1 vs Google Pixel Buds A Series vs Nothing Ear 1

Now Google claims that just 15 minutes inside the charging case will give you up to three full hours of listening time that’s pretty decent considering that it’s about three-quarters of a full charge I’m getting anywhere between 4 to 4 1/2 hours of battery life.

Let’s get to these buds themselves on the outside shell of these little mentos is a circular touchpad now you guys know that I don’t really like touchpads on earbuds I think physical buttons tend to be a lot more consistent overall.

But in the case of the series I’m gonna make an exception the touchpads on these are great I can very consistently tap them to do exactly what I want to do without messing up and they’re not hard to adjust in my ears without touching the touch panels either.

Nothing Ear 1 vs Google Pixel Buds A Series

You can do stuff like play pause and skip tracks like normal but interestingly enough the tap and hold function does not activate the google assistant in a normal way once you tap and hold you’ll hear a chime and the google assistant will actually give you the time and read out your notifications if you have any notification.

Something you have to say is the hey google catchphrase I kind of love that they split up the assistant function in that way I find it really convenient.

Google Pixel Buds A Series vs Nothing Ear 1

The other thing that I noticed when using the Google Pixel Buds A Series is that they don’t have a whole lot of sound isolation you can still hear your surroundings fairly well and while that might be nice for certain scenarios like hearing yourself talk on the phone.

It’s bad for blocking out unwanted noise I mean that’s why a lot of wireless earbuds have active noise cancellation but unfortunately, that is not a feature with the a-series then again at the price that Google is selling these for its kind of hard to expect that kind of feature.

Google Pixel Buds A Series vs Nothing Ear 1

I think Google did a really great job given what price point that they’re selling these at the mids and highs are decent with just a little bit of distortion up on the high end of that register.

While the bass can be a little bit light for some EDM fans google is doing us a solid by giving us a bass boost preset within the pixel buds app.

Nothing Ear 1

Nothing is this new consumer tech brand that wants to issue entrenched conventions of building consumer tech products and wants to do interesting stuff obviously it is the brainchild of Carl Pay like I mentioned who was the ex-co-founder of OnePlus and it is backed by several high-profile investors including google ventures.

now the first product in nothing’s lineup is a pair of truly wireless earbuds called the ear one now this definitely takes a unique approach to design but is it only form over function

The Nothing Ear 1 truly wireless earbuds and they’re pretty interesting I mean the design here alone is quite different but there are a bunch of features here as well.

Google Pixel Buds A Series vs Nothing Ear 1 Comparision

The earphones themselves also have a transparent body and I mean it’s quite a good look there’s the Nothing Ear 1 text printed here as you can see and because these are transparent you can kind of see the circuit board as well it’s quite cool and it’s definitely a fresh new design.

The Nothing Ear 1 design is an outlier it is edgy it is to a certain extent innovative and most importantly it’s stunning to look at this retro-futuristic design not only brings the looks but also brings along with it a few real-life usage enhancements.

Starting with the square case you will see that nothing has adopted a transparent plastic shell on the exterior which means your buds and the led indicator are clearly visible through the see-through plastic.

The case itself feels extremely sturdy and well put together and the size feels just apt now there is a type c port for charging and a button for initiating the pairing mode what I like about the design is there is a very sturdy metal hinge holding the lid and the base together.

They have an ipx4 rating for sweat and splash resistance so you can definitely use these for your workout sessions these earphones are also very comfortable they actually have the same pressure-relieving vents that you’ll find in the AirPods pro.

So the nothing here one has an 11.6 mm driver and a 0.34 cc air chamber for the better sound I’ve used these earphones extensively over the last few days and the sound quality here is really good the earphones sound amazing highs mids and the bass are all well balanced.

It is nice to see a unique approach to it but in terms of build quality, it is pretty reflective of the price like this cost 99$ so you’re paying for what you get here and the see-through plastics they do look cool but both the case and the earbuds will easily get scratched.

Yeah, the Nothing Ear 1 are definitely better in sound quality the galaxy buds are a close second but if you’re looking for impressive sound quality at this price I would recommend the nothing ear.

Google Pixel Buds A Series vs Nothing Ear 1

The most important feature here is noise cancellation yeah the Nothing Ear 1 comes with support for active noise cancellation.

So similar to AirPods pro this utilizes a similar kind of oval ear tip so the fit isn’t too deep or intrusive and you’re getting three sizes included with the largest working the best for me so comfort is top-notch.

since the buds are small and they’re very lightweight as well and the security is surprisingly pretty good here as well like when weight training I barely had to readjust the earbuds if you’re a runner or a cross-fitter you should be fine the buds definitely won’t fall out.

Nothing Ear 1 comes with an ipx4 water-resistant rating here so fine if you’re out in the rain you get a little bit sweaty like me you just can’t submerge the buds in water.

now let’s talk about battery life starting with what’s advertised so from the earbuds you’re getting five hours with noise canceling off 34 hours in total with the case or with noise canceling on four hours from the buds and 24 hours total.

Google Pixel Buds A Series vs Nothing Ear 1

A 10-minute charge of the case will give you eight hours of playback and you can wirelessly charge this case as well but this will take two and a half hours to charge a case from debt to full instead of 52 minutes.

So some pretty interesting numbers there but the case itself is built really well despite the easily scratched material so the hinge is sturdy magnets are nice and strong and the buds are easy to take in and out of the case.

With these earbuds, you get great sensitivity you can control everything including volume even when you’re just using one earbud you can almost control everything because controlling volume all you need to do is swipe up to increase volume and swipe down to decrease volume.

Plus there’s support for tab gestures here so you can double-tap to play and pause music and triple tap to skip tracks that’s fine but you also get volume controls here so you can swipe up and down on the stem of the earphones to increase or decrease the volume.

Google Pixel Buds A Series vs Nothing Ear 1

So some nice customization options there as well you’re also getting in-ear detection so chuck the earbuds out of your ears your music will pause chuck them back in your music will resume and you can turn this on and off.

The app which I love seeing and another great thing if you have noise canceling on and you take one earbud out transparency mode will kick in in the other earbud that’s in your ear so you don’t have noise canceling on in one ear which sounds pretty weird only issue with the EA detection is that it is a little slow.

so it takes about two seconds when you take your earbud out for music to pause and this is the same when you chuck it back in for music to resume.

Finally, you are getting a little bit of beep feedback when you play pause and skip tracks forward and back slight beep sound in either earbud and you also get a little beat feedback when switching between noise canceling on and off and your transparency mode you get a different beep depending on what you’re doing.

Nothing Ear 1 VS Google Pixel Buds A Series

Now let’s talk about connectivity Bluetooth 5.2 SBC and AAC codecs no app decks to be seen here but if you do use an android device on compatible android devices this has a quick pair function.

So to open the Lydia case this makes it easy to quickly pair your earbuds to your device and I tested this on my Samsung galaxy s10e and this worked with that phone.

When it comes to gaming casual games you should be fine if you’re pretty into your gaming shooters and need some quick response time there is no low latency mode to be seen here.

in terms of blocking out low frequencies engines like the plane engine and that kind of stuff and the train low rumble sound blocks out those low frequencies really well when it comes to voices or like the hum of the plane or an air conditioner weights clanging around and that kind of stuff this doesn’t do as good a job but that still blocks it out quite well but not as good as the low frequency.

Just the case with noise-canceling and you don’t get too much cabin pressure like that weird suction feeling you get as well if you are sensitive to it though there’s also a light ANC option in the app you can turn on there is no wind noise reduction.

Google Pixel Buds A Series vs Nothing Ear 1

The magnet that holds the lid and the base together it has the right amount of force but you cannot flip it open with your thumb like you can the Realme Buds 2 case or even the Apple Airpods Pro.

The angular stem of Nothing Ear 1 ensures that it doesn’t collide with the anti-tragus of your ear the attitude is basically the cartilage that sort of protrudes out of your ear from the bottom part it is by far the most comfortable pair of truly wireless earbuds I’ve tested till date.

After finding the right tip size of course any way you get three liquid silicone tips in the box fun fact liquid silicon is actually the same material used by Apple to make its official cases once you find the right size of you know the tip for me it was the largest one listening to music for hours on end is never going to be fatiguing it’s actually very very comfortable.

Google Pixel Buds A Series vs Nothing Ear 1

Now the controls include a double-tap to play pause the music triple-tap the left earbud for the next song and the right one for the previous one uh tap and hold to switch through the transparency normal and noise cancelling modes and finally swipe up and down to increase/reduce the volume.

Of all the controls you can configure the triple tap and tap and hold gestures to your liking after a couple of firmware updates that have already landed on our device after we got it the controls have been pretty responsive as well.
