Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 vs Nothing Ear 1 Comparison

The Launch of the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 & Nothing Ear 1 has created a fuzz in the market, Let’s have a Quick Comparision between Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 vs Nothing Ear 1, what should you buy and why?

Currently, Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 is considered to be one of the best TWS earbuds under a budget with dynamic dual drivers and deeps and punchy bass, Let’s see can Nothing Ear 1 beat Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 in some or other way, let’s see the comparison between Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 and Nothing Ear 1.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2

Hey, guys so Samsung’s unpacked event this year was quite a hit Samsung launched two foldable um updated the watch lineup, and also launched these Samsung Galaxy Buds 2.

Now when talking about wireless earbuds in general there are the high-end ones from companies like bose sony and apple and even Samsung joined this club with last year’s Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro.

which offered excellent sound quality then there are the budget ones from brands like SoundcCore, Nothing, and Realme Buds Air Pro that are affordable and have garnered a lot of attention in the market.

Although their core sound quality still leaves much to be desired enter the Galaxy buds 2 which basically tries to fill the gap between the two by offering a balance between price and quality kind of like luke skywalker bringing the balance to the force.

Okay, regardless Samsung says that the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 is the successor to the Samsung Galaxy Buds plus from 2020 and not the bird’s life that came after it at $150 these earbuds are significantly more affordable than the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro which is the absolute best that Samsung has to offer.

What’s even more impressive is that their spec sheet is quite identical anyway, let me unbox the buds too first as you can see it comes in this little square box first, there is the galaxy box to itself um keeping it aside for now we also have this mini paper box which has the charging cable and two extra pairs of ear tips and that’s basically all there is inside the box.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 vs Nothing Ear 1

Okay, let’s have a look at the earbuds now and it kind of looks like a hybrid between the Samsung Galaxy Buds live and the Galaxy Buds Pro which is to say that the design is really sleek.

These earbuds weigh 5 grams each so they’re not very heavy either okay so let me put it on first all right so the pre-applied silicone ear tips fit me perfectly and deliver a tight fit as well.

So it is probably not going to fall off your ears that easily but since the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 comes with the only ipx2 certified unlike the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro with an ipx7 rating I wouldn’t recommend you wear it while exercising heavily.

Because this inferior IP certification means that these earbuds are quite vulnerable even to excess humidity besides that I am quite fond of its design actually the charging case is really really handy and portable.

There’s a battery indicator upfront while you’ll find an additional led indicator on the inside that notifies if the earbuds are charging at the back you have the USB-C charging port.

moving on these earbuds enjoy the newer Bluetooth 5.2 protocol as well as opposed to the Bluetooth 5.2 on the galaxy bots pro and it pairs with your smartphone via the “galaxy wearable app”.

In regards to connectivity it retains the auto-switch feature that was introduced with the buzz pro as well it’s like a multi-point connection but exclusive to Samsung’s galaxy ecosystem of devices under this the bots too can quickly switch between galaxy tablets smartwatches and smartphones.

Getting to controls like with other entries in the Galaxy Buds umbrella these earbuds feature a touch-enabled control mechanism as well you can play or pause music skip a track or return to the previous one with a single double and triple tap respectively.

Nothing Ear 1 vs Samsung Galaxy Buds 2

There’s even the support for touch and hold gestures for quickly switching between ANC and Ambient modes.

But if you would want to customize that Samsung even lets you configure it for volume and voice assistant activation.

Now let’s talk about the most important thing on any earbuds the sound quality the Galaxy Buds 2 boasts a dual driver setup with a dedicated tweeter and woofers like the Galaxy Buds Pro and the Galaxy Buds Plus.

I listened to songs under the default equalizer settings and found its sound signature to be favoring the highs the base is there although it is not as thumpy as many would like um other than that the audio quality is quite reminiscent of the more expensive Galaxy Buds Pro which is quite spectacular I must say.

As I mentioned earlier these are ANC capable earbuds as well there’s also something called ambient sound mode which is Samsung’s take on transparency mode found on Apple’s AirPods Pro.

Basically what it does is it lets you hear the outside world without having to take off the earbuds even more impressively there are three levels of ambient sound mode to choose from.

Lastly, the galaxy box 2 features a triple mic setup and a voice pickup unit like the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro although it does miss out on the windshield filter Samsung even says that these earbuds deliver clearer calls through Machine Learning-based algorithm.

The battery, well these earbuds pack a 61mAh hour cell each and boast a total playback time of five hours with ANC-on and up to 7.5 hours with ANC turned off plus the 472 mAh battery on this case takes those numbers to 20 and 29 hours respectively.

In my limited time with the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2, I am quite impressed with its lightweight design and comfortable fit sound quality from my initial impression.

Nothing Ear 1

Nothing is this new consumer tech brand that wants to issue entrenched conventions of building consumer tech products and wants to do interesting stuff obviously it is the brainchild of Carl Pay like I mentioned who was the ex-co-founder of OnePlus and it is backed by several high-profile investors including google ventures.

now the first product in nothing’s lineup is a pair of truly wireless earbuds called the ear one now this definitely takes a unique approach to design but is it only form over function

The Nothing Ear 1 truly wireless earbuds and they’re pretty interesting I mean the design here alone is quite different but there are a bunch of features here as well.

Nothing Ear 1 vs Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Comparision

The earphones themselves also have a transparent body and I mean it’s quite a good look there’s the Nothing Ear 1 text printed here as you can see and because these are transparent you can kind of see the circuit board as well it’s quite cool and it’s definitely a fresh new design.

The Nothing Ear 1 design is an outlier it is edgy it is to a certain extent innovative and most importantly it’s stunning to look at this retro-futuristic design not only brings the looks but also brings along with it a few real-life usage enhancements.

Starting with the square case you will see that nothing has adopted a transparent plastic shell on the exterior which means your buds and the led indicator are clearly visible through the see-through plastic.

The case itself feels extremely sturdy and well put together and the size feels just apt now there is a type c port for charging and a button for initiating the pairing mode what I like about the design is there is a very sturdy metal hinge holding the lid and the base together.

They have an ipx4 rating for sweat and splash resistance so you can definitely use these for your workout sessions these earphones are also very comfortable they actually have the same pressure-relieving vents that you’ll find in the AirPods pro.

Nothing Ear 1 vs Samsung Galaxy Buds 2

So the nothing here one has an 11.6 mm driver and a 0.34 cc air chamber for better sound I’ve used these earphones extensively over the last few days and the sound quality here is really good the earphones sound amazing highs mids and the bass are all well balanced.

It is nice to see a unique approach to it but in terms of build quality, it is pretty reflective of the price like this cost 99$ so you’re paying for what you get here and the see-through plastics they do look cool but both the case and the earbuds will easily get scratched.

Yeah, the Nothing Ear 1 are definitely better in sound quality the galaxy buds are a close second but if you’re looking for impressive sound quality at this price I would recommend the nothing ear.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 vs Nothing Ear 1

The most important feature here is noise cancellation yeah the Nothing Ear 1 comes with support for active noise cancellation.

So similar to AirPods pro this utilizes a similar kind of oval ear tip so the fit isn’t too deep or intrusive and you’re getting three sizes included with the largest working the best for me so comfort is top-notch.

since the buds are small and they’re very lightweight as well and the security is surprisingly pretty good here as well like when weight training I barely had to readjust the earbuds if you’re a runner or a cross-fitter you should be fine the buds definitely won’t fall out.

Nothing Ear 1 comes with an ipx4 water-resistant rating here so fine if you’re out in the rain you get a little bit sweaty like me you just can’t submerge the buds in water.

now let’s talk about battery life starting with what’s advertised so from the earbuds you’re getting five hours with noise canceling off 34 hours in total with the case or with noise canceling on four hours from the buds and 24 hours total.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 vs Nothing Ear 1

A 10-minute charge of the case will give you eight hours of playback and you can wirelessly charge this case as well but this will take two and a half hours to charge a case from debt to full instead of 52 minutes.

So some pretty interesting numbers there but the case itself is built really well despite the easily scratched material so the hinge is sturdy magnets are nice and strong and the buds are easy to take in and out of the case.

With these earbuds, you get great sensitivity you can control everything including volume even when you’re just using one earbud you can almost control everything because controlling volume all you need to do is swipe up to increase volume and swipe down to decrease volume.

Plus there’s support for tab gestures here so you can double-tap to play and pause music and triple tap to skip tracks that’s fine but you also get volume controls here so you can swipe up and down on the stem of the earphones to increase or decrease the volume.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 vs Nothing Ear 1

So some nice customization options there as well you’re also getting in-ear detection so chuck the earbuds out of your ears your music will pause chuck them back in your music will resume and you can turn this on and off.

The app which I love seeing and another great thing if you have noise canceling on and you take one earbud out transparency mode will kick in in the other earbud that’s in your ear so you don’t have noise canceling on in one ear which sounds pretty weird only issue with the EA detection is that it is a little slow.

so it takes about two seconds when you take your earbud out for music to pause and this is the same when you chuck it back in for music to resume.

Finally, you are getting a little bit of beep feedback when you play pause and skip tracks forward and back slight beep sound in either earbud and you also get a little beat feedback when switching between noise canceling on and off and your transparency mode you get a different beep depending on what you’re doing.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 vs Nothing Ear 1

Now let’s talk about connectivity Bluetooth 5.2 SBC and AAC codecs no app decks to be seen here but if you do use an android device on compatible android devices this has a quick pair function.

So to open the Lydia case this makes it easy to quickly pair your earbuds to your device and I tested this on my Samsung galaxy s10e and this worked with that phone.

When it comes to gaming casual games you should be fine if you’re pretty into your gaming shooters and need some quick response time there is no low latency mode to be seen here.

in terms of blocking out low frequencies engines like the plane engine and that kind of stuff and the train low rumble sound blocks out those low frequencies really well when it comes to voices or like the hum of the plane or an air conditioner weights clanging around and that kind of stuff this doesn’t do as good a job but that still blocks it out quite well but not as good as the low frequency.

Just the case with noise-canceling and you don’t get too much cabin pressure like that weird suction feeling you get as well if you are sensitive to it though there’s also a light ANC option in the app you can turn on there is no wind noise reduction.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 vs Nothing Ear 1

The magnet that holds the lid and the base together it has the right amount of force but you cannot flip it open with your thumb like you can the Realme Buds 2 case or even the Apple Airpods Pro.

The angular stem of Nothing Ear 1 ensures that it doesn’t collide with the anti-tragus of your ear the attitude is basically the cartilage that sort of protrudes out of your ear from the bottom part it is by far the most comfortable pair of truly wireless earbuds I’ve tested till date.

After finding the right tip size of course any way you get three liquid silicone tips in the box fun fact liquid silicon is actually the same material used by Apple to make its official cases once you find the right size of you know the tip for me it was the largest one listening to music for hours on end is never going to be fatiguing it’s actually very very comfortable.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 vs Nothing Ear 1 vs Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 vs Nothing Ear 1

Now the controls include a double-tap to play pause the music triple-tap the left earbud for the next song and the right one for the previous one uh tap and hold to switch through the transparency normal and noise-canceling modes and finally swipe up and down to increase/reduce the volume.

Of all the controls you can configure the triple tap and tap and hold gestures to your liking after a couple of firmware updates that have already landed on our device after we got it the controls have been pretty responsive as well.

Built QualityThe built quality of Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 is good as well, the plastic feels premium, case and magnets are also intact, It’s almost similar to that of Samsung Galaxy Buds ProThe case is made of transparent shiny plastic which seems to be slightly fragile, the hinges are average, but the magnet on earbuds sticks to their dock quite intact.
in-hand Feel & Sound qualityThe in-hand feel of the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 is similar to that of other earbuds in the market. the case and quality feel premium. As the case is made of transparent shiny plastic it looks good and innovative but also gives a little childish look, but the earbuds look amazing.
Brand ValueAs we know Samsung is one of the top producers of sound systems, so there’s no need to worry about the brand value and the quality comparison of Samsung Galaxy Buds.As the brand is also owned by ex-CEO of OnePlus, so there are high chances of better quality and service in return.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 vs Nothing Ear 1 Which is better? (Conclusion)

To be honest, the reviews that I got from many YouTubers, customers about the latest Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 are pretty fascinating as compared to the Nothing Ear 1, as we know the battery capacity of the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 is amazing, but to be specific the features, the sound quality of Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 is exceptionally amazing.

So clearly Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 beats Nothing Ear 1 because of the high crystal clear sound quality due to dual drivers and it’s punchy bass dynamic drivers due to which gives LHDC sound quality.

So the conclusion is that Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 is better than the Nothing Ear 1 in terms of sound quality, design, bass, and value for money as well, but if you are on a tight budget I will suggest you go for Samsung Galaxy Buds 2, as they also offer a pretty fascinating deal at this price point.
